Mittal pointed out that at the core of ‘Atmanirbharta’ or
self-reliance is steel which supports a range of applications across sectors
such as infrastructure, urbanisation, renewables, automotive, including
electric vehicles, defence, and railways.
“By bringing the best of global technology, we are
developing high-end products which help steel consumers across MSMEs to
start-ups to become competitive. Gujarat welcomed ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel
India four years ago, and in 2021, the Prime Minister and chief minister
performed the Bhoomi Pujan of our Hazira expansion project. I am proud to say
that this expansion project is progressing rapidly and according to the target,
its Phase 1 will be completed by 2026’’, he said while addressing the
gathering.
“When the entire project is completed in 2029, the Hazira

integrated steel plants with a total capacity of 24 million tonnes of crude
steel production,” he added.
