With a targeted production surge and cutting-edge technologies,
the project paves the way for a new era in cost-effective, high-capacity steel
production by December next year.
Tata
Steel is set to complete the expansion of its Kalinganagar project by December
next year, aiming to reach a production capacity of 8 million tonnes per annum,
up from 3 MTPA, with a total investment of Rs 23,500 crore.
Rajiv Kumar, Vice-President, Operation, Tata
Steel Kalinganagar (TSK), mentioned that the ongoing phase 2 expansion,
including raw material capacity expansion and a new blast furnace, is on track,
with 80% of the work already completed.
The increased production of flat steel at the
plant will cater to the growing demands of various sectors, making Tata Steel
one of the lowest-cost producers of steel globally with advanced technologies
being implemented in the Kalinganagar plant.
