Tata Steel will be commissioning its around 55,000 tons per annum ferro chrome plant at Gopalpur in Odisha in the next 2-3 months, T V Narendran, Managing Director, India & South East Asia, Tata Steel, said on March 17.
The ferro chrome plant is the anchor project of the proposed industrial park being put up by Tata Steel in the area.
Earlier, Sure Safety Solutions tied up with United Kingdom-based Meggitt Defence to produce aerial target products for the defence sector at the special economic zone being promoted by Tata Steel at Gopalpur.
Coming up under the ‘Make in India’ scheme, it is expected to start production by June next year.
To start with, the plant will produce aerial target products and service the $50-million order procured by Meggitt Defence from the Ministry of Defence.
Tata Steel Special Economic Zone, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Steel, is developing the industrial park at Gopalpur on 1,235 acres.
“We have got good response under the Make in India project initiated by the government and hope to garner more investors for the Gopalpur project,” he added.
