A fresh batch of closures could be on the cards for staff to come to terms with at Scunthorpe's Tata Steel plant.
Talks have begun over the possible closure of the site's structural workshops which could be closed as part of cut-backs.
Over 100 Tata Steel workers live in the Grimsby area, many of whom may still be shaken by the news that 900 jobs are set to cut at the firm, as announced last month.
The structural workshops are respected throughout the UK steel industry, for having built such iconic structures as the Jodrell Bank telescope.
Lead organiser for Community, Sean Scorer, has revealed he fears one contract firm, Tube City IMS, is set to make redundancies following a request from Tata Steel to cut costs.
He said the company, who employ over 360 people, had issued notices that jobs were at risk and consultations would end on January 6.
It is thought that 80 of the jobs at risk are in the Dawes Lane coke oven complex which is due to close in the new year.
The task force set up to find jobs for the 900 Scunthorpe workers who face redundancy has gained an assurance from the Government that £1.5 million will be made immediately available to finance a retraining programme at local colleges.
