November 3: Tata Motors said sales of its passenger and commercial vehicles (including exports) were flat at 43,486 units in October 2015, against 42,862 units sold in October 2014.
Cumulative sales for the first 7 months (April-October) of the fiscal (including exports) stood at 286,055 units, up 2% over 279,532 units sold in the same period last year.
On the domestic front, cumulative sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for October 2015 stood at 77,804 units, an increase of 14% over 68,249 vehicles sold in October 2014.
“The growth trend was driven by the new launches,” said an official statement.
In October 2015, the passenger vehicles segment grew 11% to 12,798 units over 11,511 units sold in the same month a year ago (October 2014) while sales of passenger cars in October 2015 were higher by 15% at 11,049 units, compared to 9,594 units sold in October 2014. Utility vehicle sales fell by 9% to 1,749 units in October 2015.
In commercial vehicles, medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales (M&HCV) grew 31% to 12,017 units over August 2014.
The light and small commercial vehicle sales, however, continued to reflect the industry’s decline and dropped 19% to 1, 3615 units over August 2014.
“These impacted the overall commercial vehicles sales for Tata Motors in the domestic market which stood at 26,119 units, registering a drop of 4% over October 2014.
