Steel secretary Rakesh Singh will light up the furnace of the newly constructed ‘Structural Mill, which has been built at a cost of Rs 1,260 crore under the 6.3 mtpa expansion project of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, here Tuesday. The Structural Mill will produce 7 lakh structurals per annum.
Rakesh Singh will arrive in Visakhapatnam Monday as part of his two-day maiden visit to Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) and will be accompanied by joint secretary Lokesh Chandra.
The steel secretary will also inaugurate a medical camp organised by the RINL at Aganampudi RH Colony on Tuesday and pay a visit to Arunodaya Special School under corporate social responsibility initiative where he will interact with the special children. The steel secretary will be accompanied by RINL chairman-and-managing director P Madhusudan and other directors to the major production units in the expansion area.
He will also visit the model room and awards gallery housed in the executive director (works) building. He will plant saplings at the Mills Zone to mark the occasion. Later, Rakesh Singh will interact with the representatives of Steel Executives’ Association, trade unions, SC and ST Association and Women in Public Sector.
