November 6: South Eastern Railway (SER) reported freight loading of 11.39 million tons (mt) in October 2015, according to an official release, which was up 20.78% over August.
Figures for September were not available. In August, the same stood at 10.43 mt.
With this, the actual freight loading during the first seven months (April-October) of 2015-16 stood at 76.44 mt, showing a growth of 6.23% from 71.96 mt loaded during the same period of 2014-15.
The freight earnings for the first seven months also increased by 8.70% to Rs 5,829.23 crore in 2015 compared to Rs 5,362.86 crore last year.
“The major components of this loading performance were 42.38 mt of iron ore, 14.82 mt of coal, 8.18 million tons of pig iron and finished steel, 4.70 mt of cement, 2.65 mt of merchandised goods, 1.29 mt of petroleum products (pol), 0.49 mt of fertilisers, 0.04 mt of foodgrains etc.” the statement added.
