The Rail Budget is forward-looking and friendly to the Indian industry, according to Dr Sanak Mishra, Secretary General & Executive Head of the Indian Steel Association (ISA).
Some of the positives of the Rail Budget are no hike in rail freight, assurance of a review of the tariff policy to evolve a competitive rate structure, improved rail logistics in ports, new freight corridors and commissioning of 2,500 km of rail tracks in 2016-17, Mishra said.
The ISA expects that steel produced domestically will be used to advantage in the proposed projects.
