India Steel Market Watch
November 18: In October 2015, the volume of steel imports catapulted to 5,459 tons against a mere 100 tons September, the highest in the current fiscal so far, as provisional information available with ISMW shows. Volumes have been swinging wildly as the chart below indicates.
Imports in the first seven months (April to October) of the current fiscal of 2015-16 were at 16,352 tons against 94 tons in the same period of the previous fiscal. There were imports of the material in October 2014.
Imports of the commodity have been scant throughout the last financial year of 2014-15 with the total being at a mere 115 tons.

In October, a single consignment of long products arrived from Thailand at an average unit price of Rs 29,444 per ton.
In September 2015, the entire volume of 100 tons comprised scrap and arrived at an average price of Rs. 19,392 per ton.
