Imports of limestone via New Mangalore Port stood at 108 tons in December 2015, up more than 4 times compared to 25 tons imported in November 2015, according to provisional data available with ISMW.
There had been 550 tons of limestone imports via this port in December 2014.
Total limestone imports through the port during the first nine months (April-December) of 2015-16 stood at 801 tons against 29,603 tons in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Imports of limestone through the port in financial year 2014-15 stood at 29,743 tons.

In December 2015, the entire volume came in from Egypt at a price of Rs 7,486 ($111) per ton.
In November 2015, the entire volume came in from Malaysia at a price of Rs 7,944 ($122) per ton.
