The metal index increased significantly on Thursday. Steel prices improved in the physical market as well. Stock prices moved up expectations of better realisations.
The S&P BSE Metal index increased 283.32 points (4.05%) to close at 6,998.33 on March 2 from the previous closing of 7,261.85. The highs and lows on March 3 were 7,291.15 and 7,064.04 respectively.
Global markets such as CAC, DAX and the Indian Sensex, except FTSE, all closed in 1-2% up on Thursday from the previous close.
The Sensex increased 364.01 points (1.50%) to close at 24,606.99.
On March 3, all the stocks on the S&P BSE Metal closed in the green, zooming as high as 9%-10%. The maximum gain was registered by Jindal Steel, with the stock increasing 10.18% to close at Rs 63.3.
