The steel sector remained green for the 5th consecutive day since Monday.
In contrast, the index remained in the red zone in the previous week.
The S&P BSE Metal index increased 10.13 points (0.15%) to close at 6,876.84 on February 19 from the previous
closing of 6,866.71. The highs and lows on February 19 were at 6,898.30 and 6,772.22 respectively.
Global markets such as CAC, DAX and FTSE as well as the Indian Sensex all closed 1% up on Thursday from the previous close.
The Sensex increased 59.93 points (1.14%) to close at 23,709.15.

On February 19, most of the stocks on the S&P BSE Metal closed in the green. The maximum gain was registered by NMDC, with the stock increasing 3.77% to close at Rs 92.25. The maximum loss was registered by Coal India, which decreased 1.39% to close at Rs 312.9.
