November 3: Leading automobile-maker Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) reported a 29.1% increase in sales, including domestic and exports, for October 2015.
The company sold 134,209 units against 103,973 units sold in the same month a year ago (October 2014), supported mainly by sharp growth in export sales and new launches.
For the first 7 months of the current fiscal (2015-16) cumulative sales of MSIL stood at 828,873 units against a volume of 725,765 units sold in 2014-15, registering a growth of 14.2%.
The passenger car segment continued to push growth of passenger car sales, which grew 21.5% to 97,951 units from 80,589 units sold in the same month a year ago.
Sales of utility vehicle also increased significantly by 56.5% to 9,435 units against a volume of 6,027 units sold in the same period a year ago.
On the domestic front, October 2015 sales increased 24.7% to 121,063 units against a volume of 97,069 units produced in the same month of 2014.
Exports during the month increased significantly by 90.4% to 13,146 units compared to 6,904 units in the same month a year ago.
