India's non-alloy flat steel imports fell 14% in April, 2016, following measures taken by the government to check cheap inbound shipments, latest steel ministry data showed.
Non-alloy flat steel imports were at 450,680 tons as in April, 2016 as against 524,510 tons in April 2015, the data showed.
Imports of HR coils fell 13% to 203,280 tons during the period, while imports of plates fell 35% to 63,360 tons during April, 2016.
GP/GC sheet imports rose 15% to 44,110 tons, while CR coil/sheet imports fell 24% to 70,560 tons during the period.
