India’s finished steel production in February 2016 fell 1.5% to 7.73 million tons (mt) over the January 2016 production figure of 7.85 mt, the latest provisional steel ministry data showed.
In February 2015, finished steel production was at 7.38 mt. This shows that finished steel production rose 4.8% year-on-year.
In April-February, 2015-16, finished steel production fell 1.4% to 83.30 mt from 84.45 mt a year ago. Production by SAIL, RINL, Tata Steel, JSW, Essar and JSPL rose 1.1% year on year at 43.16 mt. Production by other steel producers’ fell 3.5% to 47.61 mt in April-February.
