India’s crude steel production in February 2016 rose 0.9% to 7.46 million tons (mt) over the January 2016 production level of 7.39 mt, latest provisional steel ministry data showed.
In February 2015, crude steel production was at 7.20 mt. This shows that crude steel production rose 3.6% year-on-year.
In April-February, production by integrated steel producers like SAIL, RINL, Tata Steel, JSW, Essar and JSPL rose 1.9% year-on-year to 42.78 mt.
Production by other steel producers fell 0.7% to 38.93 mt in April-February.
Total crude steel production in the April-February period of 2015-16 was up 0.7% to 81.71 mt as against 81.18 mt in the same period last year.
