Even though the markets remained volatile, flat product price offers remained stable.
Both HRC and CRC prices, which were up Rs 700-900 per ton and Rs 900-2,000 per ton respectively, remained stable.
HR plate and GP prices also remained firm.
Market sources said, prices may firm up further as steel ministry data showed steel imports fell marginally by 0.1% month-on-month in February 2016 to 0.91 million tons (mt) compared with January 2016, but the decline was much steeper at 7.3% compared to the same month last year.
Even as in-bound shipments registered a fall, albeit marginally, in February 2016, imports of finished steel grew by 20.5% to 10.22 mt during April-February, 2015-16, with India remaining a "net importer" of the metal so far this fiscal.
The market remained positive with lesser import bookings following the announcement of the minimum import price.
