Ferro alloy prices showed firm trends in the week ended April 15, led by short supply and business enquiries from end-users, traders said.
Ferro silicon, ferro manganese and ferro chrome prices remained firm while silico manganese offers fell on profit booking with supply increasing in the market.
In the export market, silicon manganese fell to $820-870 per ton FOB east coast as against $840-940 per ton FOB east coast in the previous week as supply increased as opposed to demand in the international market.
Indian producers reported that there were inquiries from the Middle East, South East Asia and Latin American countries but confirmed deals were few and far between.
In the export market, ferro manganese was quoted at $810-850 per ton FOB as against the same prices in the previous week on short supply. There were higher enquiries from the international markets, sources said.
In line with the firm trends in the ferro alloys market, ferro silicon rose Rs 2,900 per ton, ferro vanadium rose Rs 83 per ton, silicon manganese rose Rs 10,100 per ton, ferro manganese rose Rs 13,900 per ton, ferro moly by Rs 17 per ton and ferro chrome rose Rs 200 per ton during the last one month as short supply conditions prevailed.
