There were no steel imports in March 2016 while in the preceding month of February, the volumes were at 19,669 tons, as provisional information available with ISMW shows.
Volumes have been swinging wildly as the chart below indicates.
Thus, imports in 2015-16 remained at 111,019 tons against a mere 115 tons seen in the previous fiscal. Imports of the material in March 2015 were at nil.
Imports of the commodity have been scant throughout the last financial year of 2014-15 with the total being at a mere 115 tons.

February 2016 imports included 19,658 tons of other flat products which arrived from China at an average price of Rs 21,559 per ton and 12 tons of scrap at an average price of Rs 21,754 per ton from destinations whose details are not available.
