Essar Steel today said it has bagged an order to supply 1.2 lakh tonnes of steel pipes to Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation project of the Gujarat government.
"Of the 5.86 lakh tonne of pipes required for the project, Essar Steel will supply 1.2 lakh tonnes of Helical Submerged Arc Welding (HSAW) pipes, which are 12-metre long and 120 inches in diameter.
The order will be executed over a period of one year," Essar Steel said in a statement, without disclosing the amount Essar Steel would receive for the order.
Under the Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation or SAUNI project, water from the Narmada rivier would be distributed to 115 reservoirs across seven districts of Saurashtra in Gujarat, through four link pipelines to benefit 10,22,589 acres of land.
The total cost of the SAUNI project is estimated to be Rs 10,800 crore, the release said.
