India Steel Market Watch
November 4: Steel exports from the port of Chennai, have been showing a very volatile trend across months from the onset of the new fiscal. On a month-on-month basis, in September 2015, exports dropped by 65.45% to 3,343 tons against 9,677 tons in the preceding month of August, according to provisional data available with ISMW.
Consequently, with the September figures, total steel exports through the port in the first six of the current fiscal of 2015-16 stood at 34,655 tons against a far heftier 405,547 tons seen in the same period of the previous year.
Total steel exports through the port in financial year 2014-15 stood at 697,943 tons.
Exports of the commodity stood at a more voluminous 56,698 tons in September 2014.

In September 2015, exports included 440 tons of CR products, 824 tons of stainless steel products, 730 tons of long products amongst others. All products were sent to various countries in differing price bands.
In August, exports included 2,870 tons of CR products, 3,658 tons of long products, amongst others. All products were sent to various countries in differing price bands.
Also, in the month of September, exports mainly comprised 420 tons of stainless steel products to Belgium, 236 tons CR products to Israel, 1,319 tons of various products to Sri Lanka, amongst others.
