October 29: The government has approved the appointment of Aruna Sundarajan as the new Steel Secretary, replacing Anup Pujari who also holds the additional charge of MSME Secretary and SAIL CMD.
At present, Sundarajan is Administrator of the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) under the Department of Telecommunications.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the appointment of Sundarajan as the Steel Secretary, an official statement said.
However, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Secretary Pujari will retain the additional charge of CMD of state-run steel maker SAIL for the purpose of continuity, till a regular incumbent joins, it added.
Pujari had taken the charge of Steel Ministry Secretary and SAIL CMD from Rakesh Singh who retired from the post on September 30, 2015.
Sundarajan is a 1982-batch Indian Administrative Services officer of the Kerala cadre.
