Imports of steel through the port of Mumbai dropped 34.04% in November 2015 to 441,625 tons over 669,600 tons seen in October month-on-month, as per provisional information available with ISMW.
Imports of the material in November 2014 were at 440,360 tons.
With the November figures, total imports of steel through the port in the first eight months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 stand at 3,698,598 tons compared to 2,675,550 tons imported in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15).
Total steel imports through Mumbai Port for the entire fiscal of 2014-15 stood at 4,458,990 tons.

Amongst the total imports in November 2015, a volume of 127,901 tons comprised CR products, 219,080 tons HR products, 25,724 tons of long products, 36,088 tons of wires and rods, amongst other items.
Total imports in October 2015 comprised a volume of 97,215 tons of CR products, 360,170 tons of HR products, 64,292 tons of long products, 82,875 tons wires and rods, amongst other items.
Further, of the total imports during November, 47,433 tons of various categories of products, including CR, HR, wires and wire rods, pipes and tubes and defective and secondary products arrived from Japan, 151,492 tons came from South Korea, 190,343 tons from China, 32,048 tons of HR and defective and secondary products from Brazil while the balance from a host of countries, including Ukraine, Thailand, France, UK Russia etc.
