December 11: JSW Steel Ltd’s crude steel production plunged by 23.66% to 8.45 lakh tons in November 2015, as against 11.07 lakh tons produced in the corresponding period last year.
“Crude steel production is lower due to planned shutdown of the blast furnace at Dolvi, Salem and one of the blast furnaces at Vijaynagar for capacity enhancement,” said the company in a statement.
Meanwhile, the company’s production of flat rolled products fell by 37.54% to 5.19 lakh tons as against 8.31 lakh tons in November 2014. However, JSW Steel produced long rolled products to the tune of 2.25 lakh tons in November 2015, which is 20.96% higher than the production reported in the same period a year ago.
“The blast furnaces at Dolvi and Vijaynagar are expected to resume production from early January next year, and the blast furnace at Salem will resume production by mid-February, 2016,” added the company.
