India continues to show significant prospects for steel demand (>9%pa) and has seen sustainable growth throughout the recent recession. It is one of the major growth markets that should not be underestimated or neglected in favour of China, since it has favourable opportunities that should not be missed. Currently India is focusing on large investement projects in the infrastructure and automotive industry, therefore, steel production is forecasted to more than double by 2020.
